Forestry Australia 2022 Symposium
The Forestry Australia 2022 Symposium will be held both in person & online from Thursday 20 – Saturday 22 October.
The theme of the Symposium Leading, adapting and reimagining – the future of forestry, will facilitate conversation and collaboration, focussed on the future of our sector. We will discuss the challenges and opportunities before us, and explore strategies that address and create a bright and innovative future for forestry in Australia.
The symposium builds on the enormous success of the 2021 National Conference in Tasmania, and for 2022 the Symposium will be based in Albury, a large regional centre conveniently located between the pine plantations of the SW Slopes of NSW and NE Victoria, complemented by a hybrid platform that links the symposium to all interested groups across the globe.
The Symposium is a focussed three-day gathering, consisting of two days of plenary and concurrent sessions and a Field Trip day. The two-day program will feature a range of Keynote and Invited Speakers, who are experts and thought leaders in their field. These speakers will present for approximately 30 – 40 minutes each. Some of the key themes that will be featured at the Symposium include:
- Reimagining forestry in Australia through a global filter
- Expanding the forestry estate
- Reimagining regional forested landscapes and forest industries
- Embracing Traditional Owners as land managers
- Policies and politics of forestry
- Recovery and resilience
- Climate and weather
- Fire
- Water
- Strategic collaborations
- Making change happen
The Symposium will also feature a number of Social Functions, that facilitate networking and collaboration in an informal and relaxed environment.
