Forests for healthy cities, farms and people (combined IFA/AFG event)
When: 2-5th September 2018
Where: Australian National Univeristy, Canberra
Information: see here
The theme of the 2018 Joint Conference - Forests for healthy cities, farms and people – speaks to the increasing importance of urban forests in our growing cities, the continuing importance of trees on farms for productive and sustainable rural landscapes, and our increasing understanding of the links between healthy landscapes and healthy people. Building on the successes and lessons of recent IFA and AFG national conferences, the program will facilitate both structured and informal dialogue and networking, and will incorporate a day of field sessions to explore the conference themes.
The conference will begin with a Welcome to Country and Conference on the evening of Sunday 2 September, and will be preceded by the usual AFG 5-day field tour and workshops targeting young foresters and other key topics. Field sessions on Tuesday 4 September will address both farm and urban forest topics, and Canberra icons such as the National Arboretum and inside the Parliamentary Fence.
Please register now for a stimulating start to September in the national capital! Program details and call for abstracts information is available now and will continue to evolve as new speakers and information comes to hand. In the meantime, should you have any queries, please feel free to contact the conference committee at admin@forestry.org.au
